After years of bestowing on himself the title of St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ âTop Coachâ in football, Carlton âMonaâ Dennie has had the title formally conferred on him.{{more}}
Last Friday, at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Awards and Presentation Ceremony, Dennie copped the Top Coach award, having in recent times been one of the most successful coaches, especially among age group competitions.
The usually chirpy Dennie guided Central Kingstownâs senior menâs team and the Under-13 outfit to the finals of the 2015 national community league competitions, but had to settle for the runner-up spots in both instances.
Dennie also coached Central Shooters to the top spot in the knockout competition of the Agricultural Input Warehouse Under-15 division of the Digicel/ Aeropost/Hairoun Beer Breakaway Masters firmsâ competition.
A former national footballer, Dennie, who carries out regular training sessions for young footballers in the Sharpes community, has also taken on the task of head coach of Largo Heights, a unit which competes in the First Division of the national club championships.
One who never foregoes opportunities to top up his knowledge of football, Dennie has been âpresent pleaseâ at every technical course held here for the last two years, including the FIFA/CONCACAF âDâ licence coaching course.
Before last Fridayâs award, Dennie was named one of two coaches in charge of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-15 male team to the CONCACAF tournament, which was set for the Cayman Islands, but which has since been postponed.(RT)
