SVGFF president displeased with some executive members

All is not well within the operations of the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) and president Venold Coombs is not prepared to work with them, once he is given another mandate by the affiliates.{{more}}

Coombs did not hide his displeasure when he addressed the SVGFF’s awards and presentation ceremony last Friday night at Frenches House.

In a blunt exposé on the fractures in his executive, Coombs said: ”…The point is this, certain persons who you might have with you, they might not be acceptable…. Since last year with certain development, I’ve taken certain steps in terms of who I see could continue carry progress…. Basically, you (are) looking at the vice-president level.”

Coombs noted that one of the vice-presidents has migrated to the United States of America, so a vacancy exists.

“There are certain persons who should not really make themselves available to run again because working along with people is a problem,” Coombs reiterated to the audience.

Launching his campaign on the night, Coombs pounded, “The last time I brought a team and you supported me and I know that you didn’t regret that; you saw what I did…. I already have a grouping to come who I feel and know will work in the best interest of football and starting from tonight brother Marvin (Fraser) who is one of the vice-presidents, had said he is going to work along with me again because we have a good cooperation.”

It is widely anticipated that elections of a new executive will be held in September or October, 2015.

When the Coombs led executive was elected to office in September 2011, Lloyd Small got the first vice-president post, with Marvin Fraser – second vice-president and Elroy Paul Boucher – third vice-president.

Small resigned his position in November 2013 and was replaced by Kenton Ollivierre in January 2014. Ollivierre, however, has since migrated to the United States of America. He resigned in January of this year.

But while Coombs has his concerns with some of his executive members, one football unit here, Dove FC, is calling on the current executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation to call a special meeting to address several matters.

In an e-mail sent to most affiliates of the SVGFF last Monday, Keith Duncan, manager of Dove FC, wrote: “I suggest that a special meeting be held between the active affiliates and the current executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation to discuss among other matters, the upcoming elections, Constitutional review and the annual club championships competition.

“I recommend that this meeting be held as soon as possible to clarify the vast amounts of misinformation and rumours circulating locally…. I trust that the executive will consider my request and formally invite all teams, clubs and leagues that are available,” the letter continued.

Duncan requested that the meeting be held before July 31.(RT)
