Three newcomers in SVG’s senior women’s cricket team

Three newcomers, Kimone Homer, Shenezia Daniel and Samantha Cain, have been named in a 13-member St Vincent and the Grenadines women’s cricket team for a three-match tour of Grenada this weekend.

Homer is a medium pacer, while Daniel and Cain, both slow bowlers, join Crystal John and the former West Indies player Cordel Jack, who are making a return to the team.{{more}}

The team will be captained by the experienced Juliana Nero, another former West Indies player, with Stacy-Ann Adams, the vice-captain.

Latoya Providence, Nyasha Williams, Japhina Joseph, Kayleen Garrick, Shavorne Clarke and Vinisha King complete the team.

Cleton Burnett is again the team’s head coach and Samantha Lynch, who only in 2014 was a member of the outfit, is his assistant.

The Vincentians will face the host team in three 50-over matches on July 17, 18 and 19.

From these matches, a 14-member Southern Windward Islands team will be selected for the West Indies women’s tournament, set for Trinidad and Tobago in August.

The regional women’s tournament comprises the Southern Windwards, along with a similar configuration of the Northern Windwards (Dominica and St Lucia), Jamaica, Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.(RT)
