Cato, James end local cricket season in style

LIME Radcliffe’s Dyke Cato and Lindon James have come to the end of their run in the 2015 National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket set-up.{{more}}

Taking advantage of the disinterest in the prolonged competition, Cato helped himself to another bulk of wickets and James, a century.

Facing Victors One at the Park Hill Playing Field, Cato bagged 8 for 41 and James was 101 not out.

Cato was the destroyer of Victors One’s 108, in which Chrisroy John top scored with 37.

Cato, a former St Vincent and the Grenadines off-spinner, carried his tally of wickets to 50.

Radcliffe replied with 146 for 2 when play was called off on Sunday. Support for James came from Romano Pierre, who compiled 26 not out.

Play was restricted to one day, as rain on day one, Saturday, left the outfield and pitch saturated and unfit for cricket action.

And, there was no play at the Sion Hill Playing Field, not because of rain or other interventions by nature, but because of a no show by the News Spartans.

This meant that Triumph United earned their first full points in the competition.

Triumph United, however, will return to the First Division of the 2016 national set-up.

The last match in the Premier Division is set for this weekend and pits Carl Joseph Law Chambers ASCO against Spartans at the Sion Hill Playing Field.(RT)
