Cato bags 12-wicket haul in Radcliffe’s rout

Former St Vincent and the Grenadines off spinner Dyke Cato revelled in a hail of wickets, as LIME Radcliffe routed Triumph United by an innings in the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket programme.{{more}}

With the title already secured by Team Rivals, Cato, however, took advantage of a hapless Triumph United batting at the Park Hill Playing Field, bagging 6 for 25 and 6 for 19, in his opponents’ first and second innings respectively.

Radcliffe, having been inserted on Saturday, rushed to 201 for 4 declared; Romano Pierre stroked 60 not out, Rodney Lawrence – 52 and Lindon James – 32.

Keroy Roberts took 2 for 62, bowling for Triumph United.

Lindon James took 2 for 8, to aid Cato to dismiss Triumph United for 62 in response.

And, trailing by 139 runs, Triumph United was shot out early Sunday morning for 60, as Cato finished with match figures of 12 for 44.

Lindon James helped himself to 3 for 25, as his team romped to an innings and 79-run triumph.

And, it was another one-sided affair at the Sion Hill Playing Field, as Victors One made light work of a depleted News Spartans.

Fielding seven players, Spartans were unable to stop the batting of Victors One, who posted 253 for 9 declared.

Lauron Francois crafted an even 100; Miles Bascombe stroked 68.

Bowling for Spartans, Basil Andrews picked up 5 for 53 and Teran Simon – 2 for 33.

Spartans mustered 144 in response. Gidron Pope led with 40 and Joey Welcome was 37 not out.

Norlan Williams picked up 4 for 45, bowling for Victors One.

Batting a second time, after being asked to follow on, Spartans scored 112; Joey Welcome top scored with 35. Miles Bascombe took 4 for 43.

Set a mere four runs to win, Victors One did not need to take the field, as Spartans did not have the required minimum seven players to do so. (RT)
