Conrick Richardson, who won the Light Middleweight in 2013, lost out to his Grenadian opponent on points.

Also losing on points were Light Welter Emron Tittle and former Light Heavyweight Champion Lorenz Duncan.

Meanwhile, debutants Rohan Noel and Jonte James had their bouts stopped.

This country’s best boxer, Keithland King, who is currently in the USA, did not participate in the subregional championship.

Host Grenada totalled 17 points to cop the championship. St Lucia came in second with 14 points, while St Vincent and the Grenadines came in third with seven points. Dominica came in cellar position with three points.

Antigua and Barbuda was scheduled to participate, but arrived late, but were involved in exhibition bouts with the losers.

The Vincentian team was accompanied by coach Cavanaugh Gumbs and referee/judge Leslie Pope.

The team’s travel to Grenada was facilitated by the National Olympic Committee of St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Boxing officials here are hopeful that King and Heavyweight Noel Blake will be available to participate in an Olympic Qualifier later this year.(RT)
