And, last Sunday, a Twenty/20 cricket match at Sea View against Cavaliers was the feature event of the visit.

Taking first strike, the visitors scored 147 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Bowling for Cavaliers, Ezekiel “Sports” Williams, had figures of 4 for 16.

In reply, Cavaliers posed a challenge and an exciting finish, but still fell short of the target by 4 runs, restricted to 143 for 5 in 20 overs.

Albert Tesheira’s 27 was not enough to gear Cavaliers to a win, despite having wickets in hand.

Vice-president of the Mets club Phillip Gabriel, in the absence of president Darie Roberts, said that they have already begun planning for 2016, and “you can expect bigger and better things next year for their 50th anniversary.”

Stand-in captain deShong Lawrence, in the absence of his cousin Delorn Lawrence, said that “it was very nice; we always enjoy coming to Brooklyn. Cavaliers always make sure everything is okay with us.”

A jubilant Mets team expressed their delight at having won the match and eagerly await Cavaliers, who this weekend will travel to Montreal for the return game.

The Mets, of Vincentian origin, into their 49th year of existence, were greeted on Saturday with a breakfast at 351 Rogers Avenue, followed by a welcome dance later that evening at the same address.
