Combine Youths, Unique Warriors reach semis

Combine Youths and Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors have put themselves in the semi-finals of the National Lotteries Authority First Division of the national cricket programme.{{more}}

It took a super over for Combine Youths to advance over Police One in an exciting finish last Sunday at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.

Police One made 232 off 34.5 overs; Vertil Davis, 58 and Gerald Gould, 30, were the main scorers.

Combine Youths’ bowling saw Kelvin Lorraine taking 4 for 18, Nickie Antoine 3 for 76 and Shane Roberts 2 for 41.

Nothing could have separated the teams, as Combine Youths responded with the identical score, 232 off 37.3 overs; Frankie Farrell – 61 and Marlon Farrell – 60, led the way.

Bowling for Police One, Vertil Davis and Sylvan Spencer both took 2 for 55.

In the super over to determine the winner, Combine Youths reached 14 without loss, then restricted Police One to 3 for 1.

At Park Hill, Unique Warriors were more convincing, as they recorded a 186-run win over Robertson Surveying Belmont.

Unique Warriors compiled 263 for 9 off 40 overs; Jelano Neil, 65, Kelorn Davis, 38, William Edwards, 33 and Christopher Campbell, 32, all combined to establish the total.

Adolphus Campbell with 3 for 42, Augustus Mofford, 2 for 38 and Jerome Samuel 2 for 47, were the successful bowlers for Belmont, whose response stopped at 77 all out in 20.2 overs.

Leon Samuel, 4 for 23, Kelorn Davis, 3 for 19 and Joseph Medford, 2 for 20, conjured up to earn an uncomplicated win and a place in the last four.

The other two quarter-finals are set for this Sunday and feature iShallz Byam’s Physical Therapy versus Victors Two at Park Hill and at Sion Hill, Smashers take on Prime Consulting Marriaqua.

The semis are set for May 30 and 31, as the format switches from a 50-over per side to a two-day affair.
