Concerns have been raised in some quarters about the use of the Campden Park Playing Field, given the surface, its inadequacy (it only has one lane), as well as the poor state of the pavilion, which does not have change rooms and other amenities.
With the unavailability of the Arnos Vale Playing Field, Team Athletics SVG plans to go ahead of tomorrowâs Juvenile Championships, but with restrictions.
According to a release of TASVGâs general secretary, Tyrone James: âGiven consideration to the field limitations and the fact that National Club Championships will take place in two weeks following, the 2015 National Juveniles Championships will be restricted to Under 15 athletes only.â
The National Club Championships are set for May 30 and 31 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.
But at the Juvenile Championships tomorrow, the Under-7 category, which is set for those born 2009 and later, will see them contesting the 60m, 80m, 4 x 50m and the Shuttle Relay.
The Under-9 category (athletes born 2007 and later) will compete in the 80m, 100m, 150m, 4x80m and the Shuttle Relay, while the Under-11 (athletes born 2005 and later) take aim at the 100m, 200m, 400m, Standing Broad Jump, Baseball Throw, as well as the 4x100m.
Those athletes who were born 2003 and later are eligible for the Under-13 and will participate in the 100m, 200m, the Baseball Throw, Long Jump and 4x100m. The males in this age group will run the 1,000m and the females â 800m.
And the Under-15 (athletes born 2001 and later) contest the 100m, 200m, Discus Throw, Long Jump, Shot Putt and 4x100m. The males also run a 1,200m and the female 1,000m.
