Sion Hill Tallawahs in form in Clinchers Softball Competition

Sion Hill Tallawahs of Sandy Bay is proving to be one of the in form outfits in the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Tournament at the Richland Park Oval.

A comprehensive victory last weekend underlined the Tallawahs’ emerging reputation.{{more}}

Tallawahs, in their latest triumph, defeated Country Meet Town Outa Trouble Two by 119 runs.

Batting first, Tallawahs posted 171 in 19.4 overs; Fabian Roberts hit a top score of 41, stroking four fours and three sixes, with Marley Duncan, who made 31. Duncan recorded one four but cleared the boundary on four, occasions.

Shamic Roberts also contributed 20.

Ezron Duke, with 4 for 8, led Outa Trouble’s bowling, but their batting fell for 52 in 15. 1 overs.

Shamic Roberts was the demolition man in Outa Trouble’s innings as he snared 4 for 11 from his four overs. He was later named Player of the Week.

But, in Saturday’s second match, Country Meet Town Outa Trouble One restored pride to their camp, beating All Stars by three wickets.

All Stars mustered 76 for 6 in their 20 overs, to which Country Meet Town Outa Trouble One replied with 77/7 in 15.4 overs.

Ozni Billingy, with a four and four sixes, stroked 31, to see his team over the line.

In between, Kelique Samuel picked up 3 for 4, to be All Stars’ best bowler.

On Sunday, Smashers resisted the therapy offered by Dr Thomas Injectors, gaining a 53-run win.

Smashers reached 129 in 18.2 overs, after winning the toss and decided to bat first.

A boundary studded 48 from Zeron Harry, in which he belted three fours and six sixes, highlighted Smashers’ innings.

Augustine Corridon took 3 for 21 for Dr Thomas Injectors, who were sent packing for 76 in 18. 4 overs.

Keniel Richards had 4 for 8, bowling for Smashers.

And, in the weekend’s final encounter, Nice Radio Clinchers outfoxed Smart Strikers by four wickets.

Smart Strikers reached 112 for 7 in their 20 overs, after opting to bat.

Rangel Small‘s 30, which saw him hitting three sixes, was the top score.

In Clinchers’ response, Oheyon Toby, with two fours and three sixes scored 37 and Donwell Hector’s 35 (1×6, 5×4), laid the platform for their team’s victory.

Hurvon Smart, with 3 for 19, topped the bowling for Smart Strikers.

The competition takes a break next weekend for the National Heroes Day holiday.(RT)
