Clinchers Softball Cricket Competition rolls on

The second weekend of the fourth installment of the SVG Police Co-operative Credit Union Clinchers T/20 Softball Cricket Competition resulted in triumphs for Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Computec Cane End and Smart Strikers.{{more}}

Affected by rain at the Richland Park Oval, two of Sunday’s matches had no play.

Suffering at the hands of the weather were CGM Gallagher Novice and Country Meet Town Out Ah Trouble Two, who were listed to play and All Stars, the other rained out fixture.

But on Saturday, Nar Fren Dem sidelined Calder United by 137.

Nar Fren Dem got to 165 for 8 in their 20 overs, batting first. Kenford Collins slammed six sixes in his top score of 55.

In reply, Calder United was bundled out for 28 in 9.3 overs, with Rakeen Lavia grabbing 4 for 15. Also on Saturday, Cane End pipped Better Brands Supreme by one wicket. Batting first, Better Brands Supreme scored 86 in 18 overs; Elrico Patterson made 36, in which he laced four sixes.

Bowling for Cane End, Alwyn Quashie grabbed 4 for 17 and Brenton Carr, 3 for 15.

Cane End was tottering at 39 for 7, but crossed the line with 87 for 9.

Brenton Carr starred with the bat, stroking 24, as Israel Baptiste took 3 for 12, in a losing cause.

On Sunday, in the lone completed match, Smart Strikers romped to a nine wicket win over ASCO.

Eventual Player of the Week Kamara Peniston bagged 5 for 17, which engineered ASCO’s dismissal of 72 in 12.1 overs.

Lonzo Degrads then belted four sixes and a pair of fours, to reach 49 not out, as Smart Strikers rushed to 72 for 1 in 9.4 overs.

Five matches are scheduled for this weekend.

On Saturday, from 12.30 p.m., ASCO face off with Smashers, and from 3 p.m., Gairy Construction Simple Boyz Two engage Fully Loaded Ballerz.

On Sunday from 9.30 a.m., Dr Thomas Injectors will oppose Smart Strikers and from 12.30 p.m., reigning champions Novice battle Sion Hill Tallawahs.

The feature match pits Country Meets Town Outa Trouble against RSVG Police from 3 p.m.
