SVGCA names three more life members

The executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association has formally named three new life members.

The trio are Venold Coombs, Carlos Veira and Stanley Hinds, who have been sterling contributors to the sport in different capacities.{{more}}

Coombs is one of the longest serving managers of cricket units in St Vincent and the Grenadines and has been the driving force behind the Victors organization. Victors One is one of the top clubs which plays in the Premier Division of the national cricket competition.

The club, over time, has produced several national players, some of whom have gone on to play for the Windwards, both at the age group and senior regional tournaments.

Like Coombs, Veira has outlasted many in his commitment to cricket.

A pioneer in the formation of Richmond Hill United in 1973, Veira has overseen the emergence of Team Rivals club – a power-house in local cricket competitions.

His unwavering support has led to Team Rivals notching up several titles.

Veira has also served as a cricket administrator at the national level.

Meanwhile, Hinds, a former St Vincent and the Grenadines, Windwards and Combined Islands off spinner, has given yeoman service to the development of cricket at the school level.

At present, Hinds serves as the co-ordinator of the St Vincent and the Grenadines’ chapter of the Scotia Bank/West Indies Cricket Board Kiddy Cricket operations.

Coombs, Veira and Hinds join other life members in Parnell Campbell, Lennox John, Michael Findlay, Osbourne Browne, Kenneth Ballantyne, Goaland Greaves, Clarence Thomas, Tony Gibbs and Nelcia Primus. (RT)
