SVGTA names contingent for CAC Games in Veracruz, Mexico

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Taekwondo Association (SVGTA) has announced the contingent of athletes who have qualified for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Veracruz, Mexico, slated for November 15 to 18, 2014.{{more}}

These athletes competed in the qualification tournament in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in April of this year and managed to gain places in the finals of the CAC Games.

The team is coached by Vanburn Harry, who is also the president of the SVGTA.

The qualified athletes are: Emulas Alexander (2nd Degree Black Belt) – Heavyweight Division; Mikhail Charles (2nd Degree Black Belt) – Middleweight Division; Jesse Huggins (2nd Degree Black Belt) – Lightweight Division; Keithron Malcolm (1st Degree Black Belt) – Lightweight Division.

The team travelling to Mexico will, however, only consist of Mikhail Charles and Jesse Huggins, who are slated to compete in their respective categories.

Emulas Alexander will not travel with the team, because he is currently in South Korea on a six-week instructor development course. Keithron Malcolm will not be participating because of a shoulder injury that he recently sustained.

The SVGTA wishes Mikhail Charles and Jesse Huggins a successful tournament.
