Conducted by former Mexican international coach Andrea Rodebaugh, the course met the approval of all the participants.

In her assessment of the course, Rodebaugh told SEARCHLIGHT: “It was a wonderful group of females… The course ran very well… It was very intense, but I think there is plenty of information and plenty of committed players/coaches who are ready to go out and implement everything that was learnt.”

The FIFA instructor said that she was willing to return soon to see how many of the players/ coaches have advanced in personal football development and coaching abilities.

Also adding their review were three of the participants.

In her evaluation, national player Coreen Yorke stated: “The course was an excellent programme for me … It has increased my knowledge about the game… Now I am willing to take up the challenge to go out and coach in my community, Sion Hill.”

Meanwhile, Julia Cumberbatch related to SEARCHLIGHT; “I learned a lot about some of the skills that I did not have… I believe I’m now better equipped to go out and help the young ladies in my community.”

And, adding her view of the course was Kellisha Ashton, who said: “There was a lot of information for us to go out to our various communities, clubs and schools and execute.”

The FIFA approved course, which was geared at equipping women with the knowledge of the sport at the Grassroots level to teach others, was attended by 27 females drawn from the St Vincent and the Grenadines senior football team, teachers of physical education and members of the Division of Physical Education and Sports.

During the five days, the participants were instructed on the characteristics of female players, injury prevention, the role of the coach and player characteristics and stages of female development, among others.(RT)
