Joachim medals at regional swimming championships

Shne Joachim, with her coach Kyle Dougan, represented St Vincent and the Grenadines at the 12th biennial Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC), held in Barbados from June 26 to July 7.{{more}}

The CISC included Carifta teams (such as Aruba, Jamaica, Trinidad, Bahamas and Barbados) plus Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Honduras, Guatemala, Suriname, Bermuda and Costa Rica. The event featured over 270 of the best swimmers in the entire Caribbean and was an official Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games qualifier.

In a very tough competition, Shne won the silver medal for second place in the 50 metre Breaststroke. She also swam faster than the previous record. Shne also won the bronze medal, placing third in the 100 metre Breaststroke event.

Swimming will be well represented at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, later in July. The swim team forms part of the SVG national team and the swimmers will be coached by Kyle Dougan. The swim team comprises Storm Halbich, Nikolas Sylvester, Dillon Gooding, Shane Cadogan, Adora Lawrence and Shne Joachim. We wish our swimmers well and are confident they will give their best efforts and make us all proud.

CISC is a highly prestigious Swimming Championship and is held every two years. In the swimming world, CISC is the next competitive level above Carifta.
