Netballers rewarded for efforts in national competition

Those netballers and teams who excelled in the 2014 LIME 4G National Netball Tournament were last Saturday presented with awards.{{more}}

The junior awards list saw Nia Fredericks of Turbo Plus Maple being voted the best defender, with Nerissa Delpesche of GTM Bethel High School the best mid court player and Yanneisha Scipio of GTM Bethel High – the best attacking player.

There were similar awardees among the seniors. Delonie Sam of Western Union Mitres was adjudged the best defending player; Ruthann Williams of French Verandah X-Ceed – the best mid court player and Shanice Daniel of Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines Valley Netters – the best attacking player.

The shooter with the most goals in the tournament was the evergreen – Skiddy Francis-Crick of Vita Malt Maple.

The most improved was Nia Fredericks of Turbo Plus Maple and the most improved team – Everready Future Stars.

The divisional league winners were Division One – Western Union Mitres; Division Two – Twilight Trading X-Ceed, with Dutch Lady Clinchers copping Division Three and Turbo Plus Maple, Division Four.

In the knockout segment, Mitres took Division One; Hillview – Division Two, with Dutch Lady Clinchers pouching Division Three and ASCO – Division Four.

Meanwhile, stepping up to receive their Caribbean Netball Association awards were Geshell Peters for her involvement in the Caribbean Healthy Lifestyle Project and Gailene Gordon for her personal strides and accomplishments in netball.

And, one player from each of the participating teams was awarded with the accolade of her team’s most valuable player.

The Division Four awardees were ASCO 3 – Samesha Allicott; New Era Pepper Stars – Molissa Ashton Prime; Consulting 3J’s Valley Strikers – Shania Pompey; and Turbo Plus Maple – Shanise Humphrey.

Taking the awards in Division Three were ASCO 2 – Kimberly Hunte; Bequia Ballerz – Emril Ollivierre; Everready Future Stars – Lauren Gilbert; GTM Bethel High School – Nerissa Delpesche; Irie Travel VETS – Esther Robinson; Netters – Jancelia Nero; Third Eye Security X-Ceed – Zoanne Bailey; and Dutch Lady Clinchers – Khadija Williams.

In Division Two, those rewarded were Aycees Nice Radio Clinchers – Kemisha Antoine; Courts Maple – Shema Wright; Green Hill Sports and Cultural Club – Jamelia Peters; Hill View – Shanda Cain; New Haven Struggling Youths – Kay-Shorn Lowmans; Twilight Trading X-Ceed – Akousa Horne; 3J’s Valley Strikers – Lashorn Richards; Vita Malt Sea Operation Nar Fren Dem – Tamara Baptiste; and for Yanja Young Strugglers – Michelle Sam.

The Division One recipients were Delonie Sam – Mitres; Bownie Allicott – ASCO One; Shanice Daniel – French Verandah X- Ceed; Shantal Rouse – Bank of SVG Valley Netters and Vasha Adams – Vita Malt Maple.

Last Saturday’s ceremony heard addresses from Minister of Tourism, Sports and Culture Cecil Mc Kie, marketing manager of Lime Mikayla Williams and president of the SVG Netball Association Dellarice Duncan.

The tournament was staged by the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association.
