Kingstown Prep nets Kiddy Cricket quiz
The Kingstown Preparatory Schoolâs pair of Riain Te Browne and Azar Williams answered their way to the top of the heap of the 2014 Scotia Bank Kiddy Cricket quiz.{{more}}
The duo, last Friday at the Red Cross Headquarters, outpointed the seven other finalists to lift the winnerâs trophy.
When the scores were tallied, the Kingstown Preparatory finished with 91 points, ahead of second placed Spring Village Methodist, which scored 89 points. Spring Village though, won on a tie- breaker over the third placed school, the New Grounds Primary School, which ended with 88 points.
The other competing schools in the finals were Lowmans Leeward Anglican, Bequia Anglican, Fancy Government, Calliaqua Anglican and Marriaqua Government.
Students were tested in written multiple choice, as well as mental math and general knowledge, which were answered orally.
The most outstanding male participant was DâAngelo Dick of the New Grounds Primary and the top female performer was Jonaliah John of the Lowmans Leeward Anglican.
Teachersâ efforts were also acknowledged, with Joyella Roberts of the Fancy Government being adjudged as the most outstanding teacher in the Kiddy Cricket programme.
The finalists emerged from the zonal preliminary which saw the top school in each of the eight zones contesting for a place in the final.
Fifty-six schools participated in the quiz component of the Kiddy Cricket set-up.
