Roderick John pouches MVP award in Lauders softball competition

Roderick John of RSVG Police was voted the Most Valuable Player in the 2014 Digicel Hairoun Beer Lauders Twenty/20 Softball Cricket Competition, which concluded last Sunday at the Antoine Playing Field in Lauders.{{more}}

For his achievement, John received a 4G hand set from Digicel. One of St Vincent and the Grenadines most accomplished softball cricketers, John hit the lone century in the competition – 147, and recorded the most runs – 257. He also struck the most sixes in the competition, a total of 34, adding more trophies to his awards cabinet.

John’s teammate and national cricketer Salvan Browne got the award for the best catch, while Zeron Harry of Smashers hauled in the most catches – 13.

Delano Woodley, also of Smashers, was adjudged the best wicket keeper and Sunil James of Country Meets Town Out Ah Trouble captured the most wickets, 16. Dellorn Johnson, Coach of the champion team Combined Sixers was deemed the best coach and Clydon Woods of Links Cricket team, the most outstanding manager. Richie Richards of Combined Sixers had a champagne moment last Sunday as he was the player of the final. Rate Your Boys was the best dressed team in the competition and Fully Loaded, the most disciplined team.

Meanwhile, Anthony Glasgow got the award for being the most loyal spectator in the competition. (RT)
