Layou Vinsave hoists pre-schools’ tennis trophy

The Pine Hill Pre-schools’ tennis trophy will be lodged at the Layou Vinsave Pre-school for the next twelve months.

The top pre-schoolers from that institution emerged as the superior players when the Grassroot Tennis Club (GTC) organized skills competition ended last Thursday morning at the Haddon Hotel courts on Murray’s Road.{{more}}

Layou Vinsave outlasted the second placed Kingstown Methodist Pre- School, as the two squared off in the final.

The other competing schools were inaugural winners in 2012, Vinsave Kingstown, Rainbow Unique and the Salvation Army.

Meanwhile, La Toya George, Sales and Marketing manager at Coreas/Hazells Inc, in charge of the Pine Hill brand, expressed satisfaction with her company’s association with the pre-school tennis exercise.

“We are happy to work with Grassroots to have this programme available for the pre-schools; it is good to have the youngsters out, not just to have them sitting down …. Tennis teaches them lots of different skills: the basics about actually playing the sport … It teaches them about team work and team play,” George said.

She was also high in praise of the Grassroot Tennis Club’s efforts to keep tennis alive in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Grassroot has a very aggressive, progressive programme … They normally come out and reach out to us and we normally respond… We believe in the programmes that they have … We are happy to be part of whatever and do what we can do,” she concluded.(RT)
