SV United has reached the league semi-final and is set to face off with Colonarie today, Tuesday, at the Biabou Playing Field.

The 2013 league winners earned their berth after seeing off Biabou United 2-0 in their quarter-final match-up. An item each from Collin Joseph and Urani Spring gave SV United the win.

SV United has already pouched the knockout championships, which they did last week Sunday.

A second half conversion by Shorn Browne was enough for SV United to keep the trophy for another year, and left Cane End to settle for the runner-up spot.

SV United opponents in the semis – Colonarie United – beat Axis Choppins three goals to one.

Netting for Colonarie were Zimmy Mc Dowald, Andrew Thomas and Dauric Child, while Deron Quashie replied for Choppins.

The other half of the semi-finals on Wednesday will see SLR Brownstown facing Cane End.

Brownstown, on the back of goals from Itiba Browne with a double strike and one each from Keron Henry and Kenvorn Cuffy, accounted for their tally of four goals. Highlanders’ two goals were scored by Esron Frederick and Philando Francis.

The two losing semi-finalists will meet in the third place play-off set for this Friday.

Meanwhile, the curtains will draw on this year’s competition, with the staging of league final on Sunday from 4 p.m., which brings together the winners of the semi-finals.

Following Sunday’s match, the presentation and closing ceremony will take place.(RT)
