St Vincent Brewery pledges continued support to football in SVG

The St Vincent Brewery Limited, through its brand Hairoun, will keep working with the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) to continue to help take the sport of football forward.{{more}}

So says Operations Commercial manager at the St Vincent Brewery Limited Shafia London-Williams.

London-Williams, who was present at the Victoria Park recently during the SVGFF Hairoun National Community Inter-League finals, said that the Brewery, through its brand Hairoun, will continue to support the efforts of the SVGFF.

London-Williams who described the games as of a high quality, said that football is one of the Brewery’s main sporting platforms.

“We are aware of the popularity of football in the communities in St Vincent and the Grenadines and we strongly believe in developing and nurturing the raw football talent that exists throughout our communities, of which Hairoun is proud to be the beer of choice,” said London-Williams. She added: “we are pleased with the overall high standard of performance at all levels of the tournament. We feel very confident and proud that our investment was a worthwhile one and we are looking forward to partnering again next year with the Football Federation.”

London-Williams, who congratulated the BOSVG Barrouallie team for beating the NLA Central Kingstown, told the players that the performance was one of class.

“They are deserving of taking the top spot three times in row,” praised London-Williams.

The Brewery’s contribution to the 2014 competition came in the form of a cash sponsorship, the Hairoun championship cup, the Hairoun championship theme song, while they also helped to market the tournament through radio and billboard advertising.

The Brewery also offered entertainment during the games with their Hairoun cheerleaders, Hairoun mascot and giveaways.

President of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs said that he feels great about the Brewery’s commitment to the sport.

“It speaks volumes that an important corporate citizen is looking at and supporting soccer. The SVGFF highly applauds the Brewery and Hairoun for the investment in the only sport that is currently attracting hundreds of persons,” said Coombs.

He added that the SVGFF is trying its best to move the game forward in the country, “so I must commend the Brewery for their involvement, because as we carry the game forward, we need corporate citizens like that.”

Coombs also used the opportunity to encourage other businesses to come on board with the SVGFF, as football is doing a good job of uniting the communities.

“The Brewery’s involvement is immeasurable and we would be happy if other entities can come on board,” said Coombs.

Meanwhile Central Kingstown defeated East Kingstown in the Under-13 final, while Layou lost to West Kingstown in the third place senior men’s play-off.

The Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines (BOSVG) Barrouallie defeated the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Central Kingstown in the senior men’s final.
