Cottoy, Dember revel, as Victors One squeeze Radcliffe on first innings
Two players, better known for their bowling prowess â Keron Cottoy and Kenneth Dember, showed another side of their cricket skill set, as they both hit their highest scores in the National Lotteries Premier Division of the national cricket programme.{{more}}
The two Victors One players were the mainstay of their teamâs reply of 300 for 9 declared, thus overhauling LIME Radcliffeâs 203 all out.
The left-handed Cottoy was eyeing a triple figure score, at the Sion Hill Playing Field last Sunday afternoon, but fell for 91, much to his disappointment.
The right-handed Dember, whose previous highest score was 27, surpassed that by a mile, as he knocked 84 not out.
He was aided by some callous fielding by some of the Radcliffe players.
Atticus Browne, who has had a tame season, struck 56 upfront in the Victors One innings.
Bowling for the 2013 joint winners, Delorn Johnson had 2 for 37 and Andrew Thomas 2 for 45.
In Radcliffeâs first innings, Wayne Harper was the lead batsman with 43 and Drumo Toney punched in 30.
The wickets were shared by Kenneth Dember, who took 3 for 44, Keron Cottoy, who had 3 for 56 and Alston Bobb, 3 for 59.
While little or nothing left was in the match, Radcliffe succumbed for 100, batting the second time.
Drumo Toney and Romano Pierre both struck 20, as Keron Cottoy with 4 for 36 and Alston Bobb 2 for 19, helped themselves to some bonus wickets.
Victors One needed a mere four runs for an outright win; however, time was against them.
Victors One still have a match in hand versus Team Rivals, while Radcliffe have an engagement with Police Two.(RT)
