The closing ceremony was addressed by the president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association Julian Jack and Norman Cumberbatch of Operations at Scotia Bank in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Both highlighted the importance of Kiddy Cricket in giving that springboard to cricket at a higher level.
They singled out Vincentian Sunil Ambris, who came through the ranks of the Kiddy Cricket programme, and has since played for St Vincent and the Grenadines at the Under-15, Under-19 and senior levels, likewise for the Windwards. Ambris has also represented the West Indies, both at the Under-15 and Under-19 age groups.
Meanwhile, local co-ordinator of the Kiddy Cricket programme Stanley Hinds restated that 60 of the best players who participated in the 2014 competition will get advanced training through a one-week clinic set for August.
He added that the eight schools which featured in the finals will get the opportunity to be ball fielders during the West Indies versus Bangladesh test match, set for September 5-9 at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.(RT)
