Velox, Dublin on table tennis double

Unica Velox and Damion Dublin finished with two titles as the KPMG National Table Tennis Championships concluded last Saturday night at the West St George Secondary School last Saturday night.{{more}}

Velox won the female singles title and teamed up with Dublin to take the mixed doubles.

Dublin then partnered with Joseph Carrington to claim the men’s doubles title.

Velox, the 2013 Independence female champion outdid Natasha Shortte, 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 13-11, to add another singles crown to her collection.

Velox had also disposed of Shortte in an earlier meeting 3-0 (13-11, 11-7, 11-5) and had outplayed Kayren Browne 3-1(4-11, 12-10, 11-8, 11-6)

Teaming up with Dublin, Velox played her part in defeating the combination of Sean Stanley and Roxanne Williams 3-1(11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 11-7).

Dublin was to show his wares, as he and Joseph Carrington outlasted the duo of Bob Ballantyne and Khalique Bailey in the men’s doubles championship match.

Also contesting the doubles were the pair of Stanley and Javier De Shong, as well as Stephen Payne and Kavir Gaymes. (RT)
