Promising to deliver the equipment was president of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation Venold Coombs, as he officially opened the 2014 Hairoun Beer National Inter community league championships last Sunday afternoon at the Sion Hill Playing Field.
In his usual style, Coombs stated: âIn my hand is a document of which every single premier division club will get equipment .â
Listing the gear to be handed out, Coombs read: â⦠You have here five hundred balls, four hundred shirts â¦..We have five hundred polo shirts, six hundred bibs, twenty ball bags, five hundred markers, two hundred cones, four hundred tee shirts, four hundred shorts, four hundred socks, two hundred shin guards, twenty goalkeeping gloves, balls for the clubs and leagues in the countryâ.
This was the second time in recent months, that Coombs was announcing his intention to assist the clubs and leagues. He also did so at the closing of the Arnos Vale Football League last December, but was prompted by comments from the chair of that league Michael John, who called on the SVGFFâs executive to come forward and help financially and otherwise.
But last Sunday, Coombs, in trumpeting the work of his executive, shouted âThis executive wants developmentâ¦. We have been taking part of our international obligations, but you must have a platform⦠You check the results since I went back in as president ⦠President the first time, progress, president the second time, progress.â
The current Coombs led executive was voted into office on September 24, 2011. (RT)
