Two new faces on SVGNA executive

Sylvorn Harry and Jennifer Richardson are the two new faces on the executive of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Netball Association (SVGNA).{{more}}

They were elected last Saturday afternoon at the association’s Annual General Meeting, held at the Thomas Saunders Secondary School.

Harry holds the post of second vice-president, as she got the nod over Diane Questelles and Cheryl Alexander, who were also in the contest.

Harry gained 14 votes, while Questelles and Alexander each garnered eight votes.

One who has performed duties as manager/chaperone of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-23 team, Harry replaces Thelma Foster, who, in accordance with the constitution, had served her two successive terms.

Richardson, the other new face, takes up the position of public relations officer.

In a two-way contest with Geshelle Peters, Richardson‘s tally of votes was 22 and Peters’17.

In the reshuffled position, Thelma Foster is the new games secretary, as she defeated Oneil Cockburn 22-8 in the race for the post.

The other members of the executive were returned to continue in the roles assured from the 2012-2014 process.

President Dellarice Duncan holds the top spot for another two-year tenure, doing so with unanimity, as there were no challengers to her nomination.

Likewise, secretary and former president Doris Mc Intosh was re-elected unopposed.

Sharing such privilege was the most sought after treasurer Jacintha Ballantyne, who again was elected unopposed.

Apart from being treasurer of the SVGNA, Ballantyne also performs the same duty on Team Athletics SVG’s executive and the St Vincent and Grenadines National Olympic Committee.

But there had to be a run-off for the posts of first vice-president and the two committee members.

Natasha Stapleton remains the first vice-president, overcoming a challenge from Joan Foster-Baynes, whom she beat 20-10.

The two committee members were similarly retained, as Gailene Gordon and Pearlina Thomas were re-installed.

In a six-way race, Gordon got 21 votes and Thomas 11. The others who contested were Diane Questelles, Delores Antoine, Shanica Haynes and Geshelle Peters.

The current executive serves for the period 2014 to 2016. (RT)
