‘Get Into Rugby’ programme off to a running start

The SVG Rugby Club’s brand new grass roots programme, “Get Into Rugby” is well underway. Grades 3 and 4 have been introduced to tag rugby (non contact) where students are learning basic skills and knowledge of rugby all whilst having fun.

Members of the club and participating schools are excited about the Rugby Fun Day which is to be held tomorrow, Saturday, February 1, 2014. The president, Sophie Goddard, says: “Saturday will be a perfect opportunity for parents/guardians, teachers, friends, club members and anyone else interested in learning what rugby is to come along and watch. I have been overwhelmed with the positive support we have received for this programme and we look forward to working with many other schools in the future.”

The fun-day will see all eight participating schools having fun together at the rugby workshop and friendly competition as well as the SVG National Senior Males, Senior Females and the Under 19 teams showcasing their talents for the school children to see. The events will be held at the Arnos Vale Playing Field from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
