TASVG Games Secretary weary of complaints over facilities
Games Secretary of Team Athletics, Rawlson Morgan wants coaches and athletes here to make the best of the facilities which they have until better can be done.{{more}}
Morganâs request came last Saturday at the Arnos Vale Two playing field, following the hosting of Team Athletics SVGâs first development track meet, otherwise called âmini -meetâ.
Acknowledging that the surface was not the best as there were visible uneven parts – a consequence of the football season, Morgan called for some more tolerance.
ââ¦.. I am fed up of persons complaining about facilities, facilitiesâ¦. They fuss over everything⦠Some places wish they can at least get a surface like this to run on,â Morgan remarked to SEARCHLIGHT.
Morgan said the Arnos Vale One was unavailable because of a religious function that was being staged at that venue.
But a baffled Morgan observed: ââ¦Some of the same persons, who complain, use the same surface to train on when inside Arnos Vale is unavailable.â
Several school teams – both secondary and primary, preparing for the upcoming track season, used the occasion to assess the condition of their athletes.
Last Saturdayâs mini-meet saw the non -participation of IT-DAT, which rosters the largest active contingent of track athletes.
It was the second year in succession that the club did not participate in a meet staged at the Arnos Vale Two venue.
Head of IT- DAT Michael Ollivierre in his judgment thought that the field was unsatisfactory to hold the meet, hence his club opting out.
Last year, the first attempt at hosting the preliminary competition for the national club championships, planned for the Sion Hill Playing Field was not held because of the conditions there.
At that time, the coaches present were in unison that the conditions were unacceptable.
Morgan though expects to have full participation this Saturday, February 1, with the hosting of the Relay Classic set for the Arnos Vale One venue, providing all things are equal.
