SJCK, GSSS spiking to three in a row in schools’ volleyball

The 2012 and 2013 champions of the Q-Care Secondary Schools’ Volleyball competition will be looking to complete the hat trick, when the 2014 edition spikes off today Friday.{{more}}

Seven schools are listed to participate in the female division, with eight set for the male division.

Stashed in Zone A of the female division are defending champions – St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown (SJCK), the Intermediate High School (IHS), the George Stephens Secondary (GSSS) and the Girls’ High School (GHS), with the Georgetown Secondary, the Bethel High and the Thomas Saunders Secondary grouped in Zone B.

Among the male participating teams are the Petit Bordel Secondary, the Intermediate High, Bequia Community High and reigning champions – the George Stephens Secondary in Zone A.

Zone B has the Georgetown Secondary, the Bethel High School , the Thomas Saunders Secondary and the Dr JP Eustace Memorial.

The challengers to the two title holders have their eyes set on reaching the finals which are scheduled for February 28.

The National Lotteries Authority hard court, located at the area formerly known as the Triangle and the Girls’ High School court, are the venues for the competition.

Apart from the honours which are at stake for the top performers, many will also be seeking to impress the selectors who will be on the lookout for players to serve the St Vincent and Grenadines teams for the Windward Islands Schools’ Games to be hosted in St Lucia in July/ August and for the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association’s youth tournaments.(RT)
