Lorson Lewis heavily tipped to retain BSA presidency

Incumbent Lorson Lewis is heavily tipped to be returned as President of the Barrouallie Sports Association (BSA).{{more}}

This, when the BSA holds its Annual General Meeting this Wednesday, January 22, at the Barrouallie Government School, beginning at 7 p.m.

When SEARCHLIGHT caught up with Lewis last Friday, he remained tight- lipped on the matter. It was also still uncertain whether anyone would oppose Lewis, once he stands for re- election.

This is against rumblings among some affiliates of the BSA, which mirrored the lead up to the 2012 elections. However, it is left to be seen whether those barks will turn into bites.

Lewis was voted in as president in 2012, after serving in an interim capacity.

His elevation two years ago has brought sporting prosperity to the Barrouallie community.

Under Lewis’ tenure, Barrouallie has lifted successive titles in the Senior and Under-17 divisions of the national inter community league football competitions for 2012 and 2013.

Lewis has also seen through successful Netball, Football and Softball Cricket competitions, elevating the BSA to one of the most vibrant area sports associations in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Apart from the post of President, affiliates of the BSA will also elect a Vice President, a Treasurer and public Relations Officer.

The new executive when installed will serve for the 2014 to 2016 period.

The meeting will hear reports from the executive for 2013, and will present financial statements for 2013 programmes.

Copies of the nomination forms, financial statements and voters’ list will be made available at Laban Connell’s Shop in Keartons, and the Caribbean Shack.(RT)
