Top achievers in Secondary Schools’ Netball Competition rewarded

The top achievers in the recently concluded Secondary Schools’ Netball tournament were rewarded with their trophies last Friday afternoon at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}

The presentation of the awards coincided with the hosting of the finals of the primary schools’ Netball festival.

Three of the individual awards went the way of the double crowned champions – the Bethel High School.

Taking the Most Valuable Players of the Finals awards were Pauline Francis and Shantal Rouse, in the Junior and Senior Divisions respectively.

The other individual award pouched by the Bethel High School was for the top goal scorer in the Junior Division, which was won by Shania Daniel.

Daniel registered 102 goals from her 150 attempts.

Niancia Gordon of the Central Leeward Secondary School, with 156 goals from 213 attempts was the top shooter in the Senior Division.

Awards were also presented to the zonal winners in both divisions.

In the Junior Division – in Zone A – North Union, Zone B – Bethel High, Zone C – Bishop’s College Kingstown and Zone D – Emmanuel High Mespo.

Among the seniors, it was Sandy Bay – Zone A, Central Leeward – Zone B, Bishop’s College Kingstown – Zone C and Emmanuel High Mespo – Zone D.

The Central Leeward Secondary finished second in both the Junior and Senior Divisions.

North Union Secondary was third in the Junior Division and the St Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua – third in the Senior Division. (RT)
