TASVG’s AGM gets another false start

Affiliates of Team Athletics SVG were already in the starting blocks for last Saturday’s long overdue Annual General Meeting of the organization, but got another false start last Thursday, when another postponement was announced.{{more}}

The AGM has been reset for Saturday, December 14, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Xpert Computer Centre. This is the second postponement in as many months, as the initial October 26 meeting was called off because of a lack of a quorum. A release from Team Athletics SVG via e-mail last Thursday informed of the postponement. The release read: “Please note that auditor, Mr Dougal James has indicated that he would be out of the country this weekend. He wishes to be at the General Meeting to facilitate his explanation of the accounts of TASVG. As a result, we would now have the General Meeting on 14 December at 9:00 a.m. at the Expert Conference Room, upstairs the Music Centre. This serves as adequate notice of the change”.

The command to be in the blocks for the AGM was given early last week, when the coaches elected Theon Gordon as their representative to sit on the executive. Also, Josh Hamilton got the nod as the athletes’ representative.

The Annual General Meeting, when convened, will elect a new executive. Also on the agenda are the Executive’s report, the Treasurer’s report, as well as an amendment to the constitution.

The last time the local track and field and road racing body held an AGM was in October 2004; Keith Joseph has been at the helm since. The next AGM was constitutionally due in 2008, but has turned out to be a marathon wait.(RT)
