Curtains come down on Inter Secondary School Football Championships today

The Finals of the Ministry of Education Inter Secondary Schools Football Championships will be held today at Victoria Park commencing at 2 p.m.{{more}}

The third place games were played at the Chilli Playing Field in Georgetown on November 12.

Sandy Bay Secondary School (SBSS) faced 2012 champions in the Junior Division, the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS). At half time, the game remained scoreless, but Kevon Clarke of the SVGS broke the deadlock in the 48th minute. His strike was followed by one from Kaicy Penniston, also of the SVGS, in the 54th minute and Clarke scored his second of the game in the 56th minute. The game ended three nil in favour of SVGS, with the SVGS taking the 2013 third spot.

In the Senior Division, SBSS once again faced Bequia Community High School. A tense match-up saw end to end action, with both teams failing to convert their chances. Iron Pompey, in the 60th minute of play, scored for SBSS, and Keithron Pope ensured victory in the 70th. The SBSS Junior team, at the final whistle, won the game two goals to nil.

In today’s championships, St Martin’s Secondary seek to take the Junior Champions title, as they face 2012 runners-up Dr J.P. Eustace Memorial from 2 p.m. This would be followed by a repeat of the 2012 finals, as Central Leeward Secondary and Bethel High School clash at 4 p.m. for a second consecutive year.

Admission for entry to the finals is $3 for students in uniform and $5 for anyone without.
