The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Team Athletics SVG will go ahead as planned on Saturday, November 23, with or without a quorum.{{more}}

And, once again, the overdue AGM is set for the Xpert Computer Centre Conference Room on Grenville Street.

Slated to convene at the same venue last Saturday morning, only a handful of persons showed up. Among them was current games secretary of Team Athletics SVG and coach Rawlson Morgan, who expressed his disappointment with the poor showing of persons.

“…Yes, I agree the meeting is long overdue, but where were those persons who were clamouring for the meeting to be called…. Where are they now?” Morgan questioned.

Morgan said that he was aware that several persons were notified in advance of the meeting, in addition to media reports that the AGM was to be held.

Sharing similar feelings was vice president of Team Athletics SVG Leroy Llewellyn, who said he thought more persons would have shown up for the AGM, given that there were many who were vocal about the long delay in having it convened.

Among the agenda items to be discussed at the AGM are the executive and treasurer’s reports and the amendments to the organisation’s constitution.

But the main focus will be the elections of the new executive to run the affairs of TASVG for the next four years.

Clubs and teams active within the operations of the Team Athletics SVG are allowed two votes each, while the primary schools’ representative and the secondary schools’ body are allowed one vote each.

The last elections of the local track and field and road racing governing body were held October 30, 2004, when a new constitution was ratified. There was also a name change to TASVG at that time. Changes were also made to the constitution, which gave the executive a four-year term.(RT)
