Power Play takes Sion Hill Inter Village Football glory

Power Play of Bottom Roseau claimed the Sion Hill Inter Village Football title last Sunday, with a 3-2 stopping of Real Stingaz at the Sion Hill Playing Field, as the competition came to a close.{{more}}

A brace from Thaddeus Sam in the first half gave Power Play the ascendency.

But Deomaji Samuel reduced the deficit in the second half, but only to see Damal Francis restore the two goal lead.

Juma Gilkes netted for Real Stingaz, to make it 3-2, but it was too little too late, as Power Play held on.

It was a revenge for Power Play who were beaten 2-0 by Real Stingaz in the preliminary round of the competition.

In reaching the finals, Power Play thumped Sion Hill 7-1 in the quarter finals, then defeated Ballers XI 6-5

from kicks from the penalty spot, after both teams had played to an exciting 4-4 draw.

Real Stingaz’s road to the finals saw them edging out Walvaroo City 1-0 in the quarter final and stopped Valley Stars 3-2 in the semi final.

In the honours list, Real Stingaz’s Romario Wales collected the Rodney Small award for being adjudged the Most Promising Young Player.

Kenyon Lynch, also of Real Stingaz claimed the Best Goal Keeper award, while Myron Samuel of Ballers XI was the leading goal scorer and the competition’s Most Valuable Player.

Ballers XI secured the Arnhim Eustace Most Disciplined Team award and Valley Stars, the Best Dressed.

Ballers XI won Group A of the preliminary round and Valley Stars- Group B.

The other teams in the competition were Mal Village Bad Lizards and Unity Investment Masters. (RT)
