Ravers get derailed in Biabou Softball Cricket Competition

Defending champion of the Biabou Softball Cricket Competition Ravers fell by the wayside last Saturday in their opening fixture of the 2013 edition.{{more}}

Derailing Ravers were Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys.

Batting first, Simple Boys posted 186 all out from 19.3 overs; Desron Maloney hit 47 Elrick Morris 34 and Stein Joseph 32.

Bowling for Ravers, Wesley Williams had 2 for 16 and Ronnique Warren 2 for 31.

Ravers were dismantled for 40 in 9.4 overs, as Travis Cumberbatch grabbed 4 for 2 and Desron Maloney- 3 for 24, as Simple Boys won by 146 runs.

On Sunday, Bank of SVG All Stars defeated Better Brand Supreme Stars by 45 runs.

All Stars reached 153 for 9 from their 20 overs. Kelly Murray contributed 42 and Earl Pope 36.

Ezra Jacobs, 4 for 23 and Lawrence Ashton, 3 for 20, took the bulk of the wickets which fell.

Supreme Stars in reply made 108 for 7; Shaffique Theobalds had 51. The top bowler for All Stars was Kelly Murray, who picked up 2 for 28.

The other two matches set for Sunday were affected by rain.

Set to play were Dr Thomas Injectors against Lauders and Glen United versus Shot Gun XI.(RT)
