The tournament came to a close last Friday afternoon at the Grassroot Tennis Club’s base at the Haddon Hotels courts on Murray’s Road.

After five days of competition, the top performers rose and tasted the sweetness of victory.

Taj Ballantyne won the Boys’ Under-16 title when he defeated Sebastian Cyrus, while Gabrielle Benn got the better of Luka Lyttle to capture the Girls’ Under-16 title.

It was a Benn twin sisters’ affair in the Under -14 Girls’ category, when Gabrielle defeated Amarlia to secure the title.

In the Boys’ Under-14 final, it was a close match between Alexander Cyrus and Richard Hoyte, but Cyrus prevailed in the end.

Akeil De Roche stepped up his game in the Under-12 Boys’ category, to outplay Antonio Caine to take another title.

De Roche had had glory in the Under-10 category, having defeated Rio Connell in the final.

In the Under -10 Girls’ category, Tamara Edwards defeated Sage Bascombe in the championship match and Che Connell defeated Afi Lucas to claim the title in the Boys’ Under-8 category.

Mc klyn Ince won the Boys’ Under-6 and Zachery Henry the Girls’ category of that age group.

Fifty-five players participated in the tournament. (RT)
