Lower Campden Park champs South Leeward softball cricket title

Lower Campden Park tasted victory the Hairoun Beer South Leeward Softball T/20 Cricket Competition last Sunday at the Campden Park Playing Field.{{more}}

Lower Campden Park won the toss and inserted Plan United to bat.

Plan United, led by Venold Collis’ 34 and Garfield Joseph’s 12, made 87 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs.

Bowling for Lower Campden Park, Kelvin York was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 8 off his four overs.

Lower Campden Park in their reply was made to fight for every run in reaching the total set by Plan United. With two balls remaining the scores were locked on 87 and Lower Campden Park needed just 1 run to win. This was achieved when Keith ‘Mamadilla’ Ollivierre’s delivery was dispatched by Ajure Durham for four to give Lower Campden Park the victory by five wickets, with one ball to spare.

Ronald Medford top scored with 18, while Ajure Durham chipped in with 17 not out.

Bowling for Plan United, Leon Samuel had figures of 4 overs, 2 maidens, 2 wickets for 16 runs.

Zati Marshall was the competition’s leading run scorer with 107 runs, while Zeron Murray and Kelvin Yorke were joint top wicket takers with 12 scalps.
