Androids near First Division title

Buccament Bay Androids inched closer to the capture of the 2013 National Lotteries Authority First Division Cricket title, despite losing on first innings last weekend to Smashers at the Sion Hill Playing Field.{{more}}

Asked to bat by Androids, Smashers were dismissed for 136, with Cuthbert Springer hitting 45.

Bowling for Androids, Wesley Simmons bagged 5 for 39 and Joel O’Garro 3 for 22.

In response, Androids were sent packing for 57, undone by the bowling of Anthony Charles who snared 5 for 29.

Buffeted by a lead of 79, Smashers declared their second innings at 152 for 5. Ronald Scott fell for 94, as Obed Mc Coy claimed 4 for 29, bowling for Androids.

Needing 232 to win, Androids were tottering at 69 for 9 when the match ended. Marvin Harry had orchestrated Androids’ precarious position with 4 for 19.

Meanwhile, Androids’ nearest rival – Police One, were asked to retreat by Robertson’s Surveyors Belmont United at the Stubbs Playing Field.

Belmont United was shot out for 62, batting first. Osrick James – 4 for 23 and Sylvan Spencer – 4 for 27, shared the honours with the ball.

Police One then posted 111 all out, with Vertil Davis making 51.

Adolphus Campbell snapped up 5 for 41, bowling for Belmont, who then compiled 157, batting a second time.

Damien James led the way with 59. Vertil Davis, with a good all-round effort, took 3 for 28.

Police One, in pursuit of 109 runs to win, were dismantled for 98.

Maxian Richardson’s 53 were not enough for the lawmen, as Adolphus Campbell registered another five-wicket haul, taking 5 for 39.

And, at Arnos Vale Two, Combined Youths attained first innings points from Ruddy’s Electrical Unique Warriors.

Sent in to bat, Combined Youths posted 237 all out.

National Under-15 player Shane Roberts stroked 73; Kelvin Lorraine made 51 and Dexter Winfield 43.

Unique Warriors’ bowling combination of Joseph Medford, 5 for 95, Junior Bacchus, 2 for 24, Samuel Holder, 2 for 82, were the successes.

In response, Unique Warriors scored 141 all out. Omar Samuel top scored with 38 not out.

Nickie Antoine, 6 for 38, and Nesron Samuel, 2 for 12, conjured up to devalue Unique Warriors’ reply.

Combined Youths, in their second innings, scored 132 for 5 declared. Oneil Endeavor crafted 46 and Kelvin Lorraine 41. Joseph Medford had 2 for 42, bowling for Unique Warriors.

Searching for 228 for victory, Unique Warriors were 125 for 3 when play ended. Omar Samuel was 43 not out. Nickie Antoine had taken 2 for 23 for Combined Youths.(RT)
