Three centuries highlight NLA Premier Division

Centuries by Donwell Hector, Lauron Francois and Dawnley Joseph made the highlight reel of the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket championships on the weekend at the Arnos Vale One Playing Field.{{more}}

Hector cracked 108 and Francois 101 not out, to lead Victors One to 332 for 3 declared.

The right handed Hector could consider himself lucky, as he was dropped on 96 and 97, before hitting part time bowler Denis Byam to the extra cover boundary, to raise his century.

Also contributing to Victors One’s total was Atticus Browne, who hit 58.

Victors Two was dismissed for 67. Norlan Williams – 3 for 26; Alston Bobb- 2 for 2 and Kenneth Dembar took 2 for 8.

Batting a second time, Victors Two was shot out for 73, with Bobb taking 4 for 15 and Dembar 3 for 6, to lead Victors One to an innings and 192 runs win.

The other triple figures were recorded veteran player, Dawnley Joseph, who powered 123 at the Sion Hill Playing Field, to prop up the News Spartans innings of 213 for 6 declared against Guardian General Saints.

Joseph’s ton came after his off spring Dawnley Grant snared 3 for 16 and Nixon Mc Lean – 3 for 14, combined to see the Saints’ first innings stop at 68 all out.

Saints, in their second innings made 94, as Spartans romped to an innings and 51 run triumph.

And, at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field, defending champion, Team Rivals inflicted a 10 wicket on Police Two.

Batting first, Police Two rallied to 130 all out. Salvan Browne topscored with 32.

Deighton Butler snared 5 for 34 and Kamani Williams 3 for 13, to be the most successful bowlers for Team Rivals, who then posted 257 all out.

Anson Latchman stroked 65; Deighton Butler hit 54 and Ronnel Jeffery -47.

Bowling for Police Two, Mohammed Lavia grabbed 3 for 31 and Rolando Wright 3 for 64.

Trailing by 127, the lawmen were unable to lock down the Rivals bowlers, and were dismissed for 141.

Salvan Browne was again the topscorer, falling short of a half century as he scored 49.

Casmond Walters picked up 3 for 32, bowling for Rivals, who needed 15 to win.

Team Rivals obliged reaching 18 without loss. (RT)
