Durrant laps up cycling road race
Durable cyclist Peter Durrant did not back-pedal, but rolled back the years, as he raced to the top spot among category one road bikers, in the Premium Distributors road race held last Sunday afternoon.{{more}}
Doing seven laps of the course from Howard’s Marine in Villa to the Arnos Vale Roundabout and back to Ratho Mill, Durrant completed the 28 mile event in 1 hour 38 minutes 10.21 seconds.
He relegated Zefal Bailey to second place in 1 hour 38 minutes 11.68 seconds. Third was Cammie Adams in 1 hour 38 minutes 12.05 seconds.
In the road bike category two of 20 miles, named the National Olympic Committee segment, the winner was Martin Bollers, in 1 hour 40 minutes 53 seconds, with Curtis Lewis placing second in 2 hours 3 minutes 54.42 seconds.
In the GTM Insurance mountain bike category four of 16 miles, Steve Ollivierre took the first spot in 1 hour 2 minutes 34 seconds; second was Collin Alexander in 1 hour 8 minutes 42.62 seconds and third was Shawn Chandler in 1 hour 8 minutes 52 seconds.
And in the Premium Distributors female segment of 12 miles, Neisha Alexander claimed the top spot in 59 minutes 24.65 seconds, ahead of second placed Crystal Durrant in one hour 17 minutes 11 seconds.
The next SVG Cycling road race will take place over the Easter weekend. (RT)
