Stubbs T-20 Cricket Competition gaining pace
The revived Stubbs Twenty/20 Cricket Competition, organised by the umbrella group, the South East Development Inc and sponsored by the National Lotteries Authority, is gaining pace, and last weekend another three matches were decided at the Stubbs Playing Field.{{more}}
On Saturday, Victoria Future Stars silenced Top Guns by 56 runs.
Victoria Village batted first and scored 206 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs. Dwayne Richards – 83 and Austin Edwards – 35, were the principal scorers.
Top Guns replied with 150 for 7, despite Kenny Stapletonâs knock of 95. Asif Hooper took 3 for 10, bowling for Victoria Future Stars.
In Sundayâs first match, Backlash defeated Church Road Connections by 31 runs.
Backlash, batting first, could only make 98 all out, with Kurtney Davy top scoring with 22.
Bowling for Church Road Connections, Julian Caine took 3 for 25 and Roland Wilkinson 3 for 29.
And, Third World overcame the St Clair Dacon Secondary by 80 runs.
Third World chalked up 184 for 7 from their 20 overs. Christopher Campbell struck 63 and Dawnley Joseph 32.
Azim Richards had 2 for 36 and Basid Richards 2 for 37 respectively, bowling for the schoolboys.
St Clair Dacon Secondaryâs response stopped at 104 all out, with the lone female in the competition, Jephina Joseph, taking 3 for 16. Javinie Peters – 3 for 8 and Joseph Medford – 3 for 24, were the other wicket takers.
Two matches were scheduled for yesterday, National Heroes Day, when Victoria Future Stars and Glamorgan were set to meet, as well as Third World versus Backlash.(RT)
