Saints overcome LIME Radcliffe with ease
Saints got their 2013 campaign in the National Lotteries Authority Premier Division of the national cricket competition off to a good start, with a commanding 146 runs triumph at the Arnos Vale Two Playing Field.{{more}}
Saints made 137, batting first, led by Sunil Ambris with 52.
Bowling for Radcliffe, Westrick Strough took 5 for 27 and Dean Browne 4 for 38.
Radcliffe responded with 81, undone by the bowling of Ray Charles, who grabbed 5 for 33 and Romario Bibby – 5 for 34.
Batting a second time, Saints posted 186 for 5. Brothers Rommel Currency â 90 and Sunil Ambris â 52, starred with the bat.
Set 243 to win, Radcliffe were dismissed for 97. Ray Charles completed a ten-wicket haul, as he bagged 5 for 42 and Kentish Jacobs bucketed 4 for 31.
At the Sion Hill Playing Field, Police Two defeated ASCO.
Police Two were bowled out for 83, with Elric Morris â 4 for 17 and Andre Hunte â 3 for 29, the architects for the lawmenâs batting collapse.
In response, ASCO scored 131. Rolando Wright snared 6 for 42, bowling for Police Two.
In their second innings, Police Two posted 250 for 7 declared. Mc Leon Williams struck 67, Salvan Browne – 57 and Danson Andrews, a former Victors One player, hit 50.
Chasing 203 to win, ASCO was dismissed for 123, to lose by 79 runs.
First Division
Two matches in the first division were also decided.
At the North Union Playing Field, Radcliffe Too whipped Smashers by 108 runs.
Radcliffe scored 194 all out in 28 overs. Valroy Pompey compiled 56. Bowling for Smashers, Darren Russell took 4 for 80.
Ronald Scott was the top scorer with 73. Valroy Pompey with the ball took 4 for 15, to add to his half century, when Radcliffe batted.
At their second turn at the crease, Radcliffe posted 233 all out. Arnold Gilkes stroked 95 and Valroy Pompey – 41.
Courtney Joyette was Smashersâ most successful bowler, with 3 for 53.
Smashers, in their pursuit of 274, fell for 165. Cuthbert Springer scored 30. Alston Caine picked up 3 for 38, bowling for Radcliffe Too.
And, at the Buccament Bay Playing Field, newcomers Buccament Bay Andriod won first innings over Combined Youths.
Batting first, Combine Youths made 124 all out, Dexter Windfield â 52.
Marcus Mc Coy picked off 5 for 32 for Buccament Bay Andriod, who replied with 168 all out.
Hector Cordice was their lead batsman with 51. Nesron Samuel, 3 for 31, and Oniel Endeavour, 3 for 37, shared the bulk of the wickets.
In their second innings, Combine Youths made 173 all out. Oniel Endeavour and Kevin Lorraine both hit 31.
Buccament Bay Andriod was 28 for 2 in their second innings when the match ended. (RT)
