The second round of the Premier Division sees heavyweight Racliffe One opposing Saints at Arnos Vale 2. At the rehabilitated Sion Hill playing field, the lawmen, Police Two, play Asco. The First Divison commences this weekend, when last yearâs second place team Smashers plays Radcliffe Two at North Union, and newcomers Buccament Bay Android will do battle with Combine Youths at the Buccament Bay playing field.
This yearâs tournament features a revised bonus points system, different from last yearâs. The bonus points system is now only applicable to the first innings of each team. The first round saw defending champions Rivals and Victors One both handing down innings defeats on Victors 2 and The News Spartans respectively. Points standings will be published on the SVGCA website after each round.
Male local cricket will receive a major boost this year, with a new play-off format involving the top four teams in the country at the end of the Premier and First Divisions. This format will be launched in the next few weeks.
The SVGCA extends its sincere appreciation to the National Lotteries Authority for their continued commitment and support through sponsorship of the local male tournaments.
