ASCO softball cricket competition off to slow start

Three matches were played last weekend in the Ashburton Sports and Cultural Organisation (ASCO) T/20 softball cricket competition at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

ASCO disconnected CWSA by 131 runs.

ASCO’s runs flowed like water, as they posted 195 for 3 from 15 overs.

Leading the charge was Deron Bute, who blasted 86; Roger Gibson hit 54 and Carlos Williams 37 not out.

CWSA could only reach 64 for 6 off 15 overs. Roger Gibson was the pick of ASCO’s bowlers, with 2 for 7.

In Saturday’s other game, CGM Novice were convincing against Bangers, downing them by 9 wickets.

Bangers scored 71 for 6 from their 15 overs, batting first. Eldon Morris top scored with 22. Roderick John had 2 for 9, bowling for Novice, who then responded with 73 for 1 from six overs. Roderick John hit 32 not out.

And on Sunday, Dr Thomas Injectors got past Georgie Valley Saints by 29 runs.

Injectors made 132 all out in 19 overs, with extras accounting for 54 of the total.

Ronrick Daniel contributed 27.

Bowling for the Saints, Xavique Alexander captured 3 for 17.

Georgie Valley Saints replied with 103 all out in 16.3 overs. Ronrick Daniel bagged 3 for 23, bowling for Dr Thomas Injectors. (RT)
