“Over the past several years, there has been a noticeable paradigm shift in the priorities of the youth in St Vincent and the Grenadines, which has resulted in more and more of the younger population opting to stay out of the vigorous, physical sports and activities.

“This trend is showing signs of possibly leading to an increase in the amount of unhealthy youth on island in the years to come,” the release said.

As part of the 2013 vision of the SVG Squash Association, the executive members have decided 1) to build awareness of the sport of squash; 2) to develop a social media online platform to allow the sport to reach those persons who may otherwise not be active in the sporting arena; 3) to perform valuable community service and charitable activities to assist those in need; 4) to help improve the overall wellness of our youth population through encouragement, motivation, discipline and acceptance and 5) to educate children on the value of sport in their pursuit of a good future and good health.
