The participating teams are defending champions Calliaqua United, CCâs Crystals, New Era Pepper Stars, Owia Trail Blazers, Star Girls, Sea Operations Nar Fren Dem, Giant Malt Nice Radio Clinchers, ASCO, Barrouallie All Stars and Enhams Playing It Safe.
President of CADO Foster Hannibald told SEARCHLIGHT at last Sundayâs opening that he is delighted to have a team from as far north as Owia on the windward side and from Barrouallie on the leeward side of the island.
He noted that the decision was deliberate, as they wanted to have a greater spread of players.
Hannibald said they would be endeavouring to have the competition completed in a matter of four to five weeks.
Among the plans to ensure this happens, Hannibald revealed that two matches will be played each day, with three scheduled on Saturday and three on Sunday.
The CADO headman revealed that on Saturdays and Sundays, the teams from Owia and Barrouallie are required to play back-to-back matches.
Hannibald said that this is to speed up the competition, as the LIME national club tournament is set to commence March 10.
Hannibald expressed sincerest thanks to Aeyecees, a new business establishment in the Calliaqua area, for coming on board and sponsoring the 2013 edition of the CADO netball competition.
The opening ceremony was addressed by area representative Clayton Burgin, acting manager of the National Sports Council Cecil Charles and Hannibald.
Five teams were present at the opening ceremony, which saw New Era Pepper Stars being adjudged the best dressed team on show.
However, in the opening match, Pepper Stars were cooled by Owia Trail Blazers 29-8, as the competition began in earnest.
Then, the experienced Calliaqua United got their defence going with a 29- 21 downing of the youthful Nar Fen Dem. (RT)
