Bailey received that approval last week, during the staging of the general assembly elections at the Hotel Palco in Havana, Cuba.

These posts go along with his other substantive responsibility as president of the Caribbean Cycling Federation — a post he has held since 2006, as well as president of the National Olympic Committee of SVG.

Bailey was first elected as president of the SVGNOC in 1997.

The other vice presidents elected as last week’s meeting were, Steve Macaulay of the USA, responsible for the North American part of the confederation, while the Guatemalan Alfredo Flores is the new vice president of Central America and Argentine Gabriel Curuchet is charge of South America.

At the helm of COPACI is Cuban José Manuel Peláez Rodriguez, who will be in charge for the period 2013-2017

Last week’s meeting was chaired by Pat Mc Quaid, president of the International Cycling Union (UCI).

The meeting also saw Cuban Sobero Benito Fernandez as Secretary General, and Hector Fermin Gutierrez Marcos as the treasurer.

Delegates of the 31 federations represented at the forum also elected Colombian Jorge Ovidio González Longas as the new vice president of development, created by the COPACI.

And, American May Plant was ratified as a member of the Steering Committee of the International Cycling Union. (RT)
