Acting manager of the National Sports Council (NSC), Cecil Charles, told SEARCHLIGHT, that considering the number of activities talking place at the venue, he thought it necessary to make provisions for some seating there.

Charles said the seats were made from remnants of the aluminium bleachers, which have since been replaced by the concrete “party stand” at the southern end of the main, Arnos Vale 1, facility.

Charles said the seating comes at a time of year when the playing field will see a hive of activity, with the busy track and field season and the upcoming national cricket competitions.

The NSC has also given permission to Team Athletics SVG to place a synthetic long jump run up at Arnos Vale 2. This is still under construction and there are plans to place another long jump pit at the same venue.

The acting general manager said that apart from the seating, the NSC has recently mended the Wilf Slack nets, which are located at the southwestern side of the Arnos Vale multiplex.

Charles also revealed the NSC’s decision to pay attention to the concrete cricket strip at the Grammar School/Richmond Hill playing field.

Charles assured SEARCHLIGHT that the NSC will be looking to improve the priority areas at the various venues, within its financial limitations. (RT)
