Owia tape-ball cricket competition nears end

The Owia Sports and Cultural Organisation (OSCO) tape- ball Twenty/20 cricket competition is nearing the home stretch.{{more}}

Last weekend, Young Strikers, West Side and Orange Hill All Stars made their way to the semi-finals after quarterfinal victories at the Owia Playing Field.

Young Strikers undid Up-Lifters by 3 wickets.

Up-Lifters scored 111 off 19.2 overs. Desron Maloney took 33 and Javadean Browne took 4 for 3.

In response, Young Strikers reached 112 for 7 off 14.1-overs. Casmond Walters hit 22. Andy Harper snared 4 for 20 in a losing cause.

In reaching the last four, West Side beat Pent House by 7 wickets. Batting first, Pent House tallied 83 off 18.1 overs. Jeffrey Lavia topscored with 17.

I-mo Hoyte grabbed 5 for 18, bowling for West Side, who then got to 84 for 3 off 16.4-overs. Denson Hoyte struck 40. And, Orange Hill All Stars clipped South Rivers Wings by 25 runs.

All Stars posted 161 off 18-overs.
Hyron Shallow hit 68.

Deighton Butler was South Rivers Wings’ lead bowler with 3 for 19.

South Rivers Wings could only make 136 off 20-overs. Gidron Pope hit 49.

South Rivers Wings’ batting was undermined by Ray Jordan, who bagged 5 for 34.

The other quarterfinal match between the RSVG Police and Colombian Lynx was postponed because of rain and has been re-scheduled for this weekend. (RT)
